Havanna

  • Havana is probably one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It became the capital of Cuba in 1607. Its famous glorious days were in the ‘20s during the years of American Prohibition when thousands of bartenders left the US and headed to the country to open a bar, and many Americans flooded too to enjoy and entertain themselves. Eventually Havana’s bar culture was Americanised and became the centre of mobsters and gamblers.
  • The charming atmosphere and the famous ex-inhabitants made this city to a popular destination.
  • It is a perfect location for cultural and active holiday.
  • The idyllic Varadero peninsula with its 20 km long pristine white sandy beach and its superb hotels can be reached within 3 hours by bus from Havana.
  • A Havana holiday can be extended to a roundtrip with further World Heritage locations such as Viñales Valley, the tobacco land which gives the famous Cuban cigars or the colonial cities of Santa Clara, Cienfuegos and Trinidad which was the centre of the sugar cane manufacturing.

Varadero

  • It is ideal to complete the beach stay with Havana and combine the cultural activities with the exquisite holiday.

Recommended travel period: from December to May. The rainy summer is from May to October and the dry winter is from November to April. The summer is very hot and the hurricane period is between June and November when travelling is not recommended.

Flight time to Havana: approximately 12,5 hours from Budapest without transit time.

Time difference: 6 hours

Visa: tourist card is mandatory; a valid passport for 6 months is required for entry.

Mandatory vaccination: none.

Havana and the surroundings

Visiting the favourite spots of the American writer of the Lost Generation who spent many years in Cuba, followed by a visit to the Partagas cigar factory, where you can get to know the process of cigar making, from sorting tobacco leaves to boxing.

Tobacco plantations in the Viñales Valley
Pinar Del Rio is in the western part of the country, a perfect destination to discover Cuba’s nature. It is also the land of the Cuban tobacco growing area, where the famous Puro Cubano cigar is made. The authentic program includes jeep tour among the mogotes and rocks of the UNESCO World Heritage Landscape, visit to a cigar factory and a tasty lunch in a local farm.

Varadero

Let’s get acquainted with the lesser-known faces of Cuba!  Jeep ride on the surrounding plantations, jet skiing and snorkelling in the sea, swimming in a cave lake, lunch on a real ranch with horseback riding are the attractions of this exciting program.

“Rambo tour”
The program is suggested for adventurous clients and challenge-seekers. The activities of the day include discovering of the Escambray Mountains, followed by hiking in the jungle and swimming in the river, descending into the valley on the plateau of a ZIL truck, lunch at a Cuban farm and finally sightseeing in Trinidad which is one of the most beautiful colonial cities.

Be a part of an unforgettable concert where Buena Vista Social Club plays its famous Cuban songs and melodies, and the viewer gets memorable impression of the real Cuban feelings.

Deep sea fishing

Wreck diving at the coast of Varadero
A unique experience for beginners and professionals is the wreck diving program, where you can explore a wreckage of an old merchant ship from the 19th century and a real Russian battleship. Equipment, two dives and lunch are provided during the program.

Farewell dinner
Have a delicious farewell dinner in your hotel with tasty snacks and open bar at a private area by the pool, where a Cuban band provide authentic music and entertainment.

Gala dinner can also be organized at an authentic villa from the ‘20s, the Xanadu Mansion which offers banquette services, panoramic bar and restaurant, live music and a beach club.
